There are many drills that you can perform that will improve your ability to play golf. I like the ones that can be performed a any place at any time. These swing drills will allow you to focus in on corkscrewing your body instead of trying to kill a golf ball with a golf club.
A drill that does not require a golf club is the following. Imagine that you are setting up for your golf shot by placing your feet a little bit more than shoulder width apart. Now take a practice swing ensuring that your elbows remain the same distance apart throughout the swing. Also, ensure that your hands remain close together.
There is a drill that emphasizes the arc formed by the arms that is called the inner circle golf swing drill. All that is required is for you to swing an imaginary club remarking the arc that is formed by the arms. You will notice that the arc continues even after the imaginary golf ball. Then when you are playing a round of golf, try to ensure that that large arc is still present during your golf swing.
A great golf swing drill is to use only one arm during your golf swing. For instance, if you are a right-handed golfer, you would use your your left arm during this drill. By doing this, you are going to ensure that you have a natural flowing golf swing. It’s not going to be hindered by the opposite arm.
A great way to practice your golf swing is to practice your pitching or chipping shot. A lot of golfers on practice their drive because they wish to have great distance which they believe will allow them to obtain a lot more birdies. I suggest that you use five balls close to the hole in order to chip each ball. If you get three out of four of them within a foot of the hole, you can move onto the next hole.
A drill that forces you not to hit down on the golf ball is the drag drill. What is involved is to drag the clubhead of the golf club through the point of impact of the golf ball. You just have to make sure that you are turning your hips so that your belt buckle is pointing towards the target area. This drill is crucial since it is what is going to force you to focus on the target area by pushing the ball towards it.
A great drill in golf to practice is the following drill that teaches you how to develop a consistent golf swing. Slow down your swing so that you are able to sense the different phrases of the swing. For instance, count to three starting with your backswing. At two, you should be performing your downswing and so forth. Your swing will become more consistent because you will be training yourself to study each phrase of your golf swing.
