Gonna Go And Play Some Golf

1:57 pm August 23, 2010

The game of golf may have originated in the cool, rainy highlands of Scotland and some argue that it was introduced to the Scots by invading Norse Vikings, but the lush tropical islands of Hawaii are uniquely suited to the game. Aside from green mountains, ocean vistas and golden beaches as well as tropical flowers and ocean breezes that offer a feast for the senses, you’ll find courses that range from easy to professional level. Best of all, Hawaii golf is year ’round.

The Aloha State is home to some of the most celebrated and challenging courses in the world, convenient to luxury Hawaii beach rentals. All of Hawaii’s major islands possess world-class golf courses with vacation rentals nearby. You can find out more about the individual courses as well as golf tours by pointing your Internet browser to Global Golf Vacations and entering “Hawaii” in the search field.

Honolulu and Waikiki are effectively surrounded by excellent golf courses with a series of fitting tee-times. Hawaii Kai, bear Waikiki, provides excellent views of the ocean and an extinct volcano, while trade winds present an added challenge for the experienced golfer.

The Maui Lani Dunes offer a unique and challenging game as well. This course, which if famous for its views of the surrounding countryside, was actually built on a giant sand dune. As a result, golfers will find hilly terrain. The Big Island is home to the famous Mauna Kea golf course, and is almost obligatory for any serious aficionado of the game.

All-in-all, the most challenging part of a Hawaii golf vacation is possibly deciding where you want to reserve your bed and breakfasts and which courses are in the vicinity. One of the best features of a Hawaii golf vacation is that with courses found throughout the islands, it is likely to find golf facilities that are convenient to almost any other pursuit you can think of. This means that a Hawaii golf vacation has something for the whole family. so while you’re out on the back nine, the wife and kids can go shopping, visit the beach or take advantage of the many recreational opportunities the Aloha State has to offer.

Kauai is a case in point. Being one of the more remote and less-populated islands, Kauai is nonetheless the gem of the Hawaiian chain. There are not as many golf courses on the Garden Isle, but the surroundings are breathtaking. While on Kauai, you can also take part in some fly fishing while the family goes inner tubing down the island’s nine freshwater rivers, or take a hiking tour in order to encounter the glittering rain forests with its tropical wildlife and spectacular waterfalls.

We have found a website called Hawaii Golf Guru. The proprietor of this Internet site has literally played golf on every course in Hawaii, from Kauai to the Big Island. It is an excellent guide to the various golf facilities in the state and anyone planning a Hawaii golf vacation should visit before planning their trip.

A Slice Of Heaven In Central Florida

10:29 am August 7, 2010

Florida and golf are a likely combination. Even with the summer rains, Florida is known as the Sunshine State for a reason. A lot of cities experience more than 300 days of sunshine a year. For golf fanatics, Florida is a veritable paradise.

The central Florida communities of Kissimmee, Davenport, Clermont, and Orlando boast a vast number of first-rate golf courses. A number of the most extraordinary golfers in the world reside in this segment of the country. Tiger Woods? main residence is just southwest of Orlando. In fact, Orlando itself is home to nearly 90 public golf courses and a host of private courses. Aside from the renowned theme parks, family attractions and plentiful beach rentals, golf is a major element of the central Florida vacation experience.

Eagle Creek is a Scottish style course found just southeast of the Orlando International Airport. It contains revetted bunkers and other aspects of golf that can usually only be found in Scotland. The Grande Pines Golf Club is located in close proximity to Sea World in central Orlando, just off International Drive. Just renovated, the course was thought to be one of the greatest before the redesign, and is now frequently showered with praise from pros and amateur golfers alike.

Of course, Orlando is just one town in central Florida where golfing is essential to the tourist industry. Davenport, a small community located on US Highway 17/92 in Polk County, southwest of Orlando, maintains unexpectedly excellent courses. The Ridgewood Golf Club at Davenport was voted one of Florida?s top 30 courses. The course was established by Ted McAnlis and has an extraordinary reputation. The club offers Champions Turf greens, new bunkers, leveled tee boxes and the kind of green landscaping that golfers in Florida have come to demand.

Another Scottish style course in the area is the Highlands Reserve Golf Resort north of Davenport. This course boasts exceptional scenery and is located on one of the highest spots in Florida. Old Florida citrus trees adorn the edges of the course and scattered pines are reminiscent of courses in the Carolinas.

Kissimmee, Florida is almost adjacent to Orlando and is frequently used by guests as a center of operations when visiting the attractions in Orlando. But Kissimmee has lots to offer in its own right, including the Kissimmee Bay Country Club which was voted as one of America?s Best New Courses by Golf Digest in the 1990s. The course is 11 miles from the Orlando Airport and contains the natural splendor of a lakeside atmosphere shaded by rambling oak trees and abundant wildlife. Kissimme provides the kind of romantic travel you may be searching for while also including family fun.

The neighboring city of Clermont maintains nine public courses, which is a spectacular number for a town of only 13,000 citizens. The more well-known of these courses include The Legends Golf and Country Club, Kings Ridge Golf Club, Swiss Fairways, Green Valley Country Club, and Sanctuary Ridge Golf.

Naples Suits Me To A Tee

12:39 pm August 3, 2010

Located on the southern Gulf Coast of “The Sunshine State”, Naples, Florida is a town with class, sophistication, and a healthy dose of leisurely living. Naples just seems to move at a slower pace than some of the other resort towns along Florida?s coast. The city has galleries, sophisticated boutiques and restaurants that are some of the best in the region, as well as outdoor sports and activities. The family oriented tourist activities of Orlando and Daytona are replaced in Naples by beaches, fishing, shopping, and golf.

Naples has a surprising number of beach vacation rentals and golf courses, given its relatively small size. Most of the courses can be found in the suburbs, though the Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club, in the center of Naples, offers a respectably challenging 18 holes. Reservations for a tee time should be made well in advance.

The Eagle Lakes Golf Club in Naples is centrally located and is known as one of the more desirable community courses in the region. The 18-hole course features 7,150 yards to play, from the longest tees, and has a par of 71. The course was established in 2006 by Bruce Devlin.

The Links of Naples was opened in 2000 and was designed by Signature Golf. Signature continues to manage the 18-hole course. The Links has 4,000 yards of golf and a par of 61. The course rating is 58.7 and reviews indicate that the night golf option is particularly popular as the entirety of the course is illuminated for night play.

A short distance away, the Golf Club at Fiddler?s Creek offers visitors 7,157 yards of play on 18 holes. The course was designed by Arthur Hills and opened in 2002. The general manager is Ron Albeit and comments for the course are very positive.

Ten miles from the middle of Naples, the Hammock Bay Golf Course at Hammock Bay is well known for its exceptional assortment of holes and excellent turf. The course is 7,000 yards long and has a par of 72. It was designed by Bruce Devlin and Robert von Hagge in 2004. The rates in the busy season can be rather expensive, but it is relatively affordable in the off-season.

Finally, the Lely Resort Golf and Country Club is located just southeast of Naples and has been in operation since 1991. The course is part of a full resort which offers 2 other championship courses, 3 resort style pools, 7 tennis courts, a spa and fitness center, 4 clubhouses, and 12 neighborhoods. The course is open to the public and features 7,217 yards of golf and a par of 72 . Centrally located bed breakfasts are conveniently close to the golf courses as well as the beach. If not everyone in your family wants to spend their days golfing, Naples is also home to some of the finest beaches on the Gulf Coast, exceptional shopping, and a leisurely nightlife with excellent restaurants, lounges, and clubs.
