Golf is a sport in which you can play for most of your life. So, starting to play at a later age is no really a challenge. However, there are many people who decide to start playing and they may have a friend or family member teach them. With golf, in particular, this is a really bad mistake. Without knowing the proper basics, a beginning player will pick up bad habits and not much technique, which will lead to a very unrewarding attempt at this complicated sport. By taking golfing lessons, from a Professional, will teach all of the basics and then with practice and then more practice, a player can improve.
Golf, like tennis, requires more than just a good swing or a good mind for the game. There are many occasions in golf, that necessitate touch and judgment. But before you can learn any of these areas, you must be solid in many other areas of the game. Once you have worked with a Professional to get your ball to the green, then you should have putting lessons to help you improve your score.
Unless you are taught how to use your physical abilities, there is no way that you will have much fun playing a round. Once you have this part down, you should take putting lessons to complete the process. Then it is all about practice, practice, practice.
Even before you pick up a golf club, there are things that you must have knowledge about. How you approach the ball is the first step of the golf swing. Balance is one of the most parts of this process. Standing with your feet spread to about shoulders width, should provide a comfortable and stable position. The golf ball should be placed on a straight line from the instep of your forward foot. This way, you will be reaching out to hit it. Standing in this position, remember how this looks to you, as you must repeat it each time that you tee off.
Your club should be parallel to the ground and pointing towards the target. Then your body should take over to complete the swing. Many people start using their hands and arms. This is a mistake and your teacher can show you how to overcome this. Professional golfers will not use their hands until the club is almost back to the ball. In other words, at about the time that your golf club is again, parallel to the ground, on the way down, your big muscles should be doing the work. This is when the power comes into play. The goal is to generate power without over swinging the club.
The downswing is what will propel the ball, so this is where the power comes into play. However, until you are about half way down, your big muscles should be doing the work, not your hands and arms. Think of it as a recoil and uncoil. This will give you some idea of what you are trying to do. Again, a Professional will be able to assist you. The players on Tour, do not use their hands and wrists until the club is almost parallel to the ground on the way back to the tee. Then they release all of the power and hit the ball. The swing is not complete until you have finished. That means that your belly should be pointing towards the target and the club should fold, comfortably. This is the part of the swing that makes the ball head in the direction that you planned.
Many new players do not understand the follow through. That means that your swing does not stop as soon as you make contact. Part of making the ball head in the direction that you want it to is based on your completion of your swing. The goal here is to finish the swing with your belt buckle pointing at your original target. Simply put, you have the basics of a swing. It will be different for swings made in the fairway and in the rough. Your swing will change if you need to hit it high or low. There will be changes in it if you are chipping or putting. When it comes to improving your score, putting lessons are at least as important as the rest, when you consider that at least 50% of your shots are made from the green.
It does sound complicated, but it is not. All you need are golfing lessons and practice. The more you do of both, the more quickly you will get a handle on the game. Golf is great fun and it is wonderful exercise, especially if you walk the course, instead of using a cart. The benefits of lessons will make you more confident and much happier with the days that you play. Have fun, play well and maybe you will end up on the Professional Golfers Tour.

How do you know your golf swing has improved? Is it because of the telltale sign that you can hit your ball very far away or you can swing your club with so much force? Maybe… How about the direction of your ball? Is it good enough? Does it curve out instead of going straight? Or does it go directly to the woods or water or sand? Then if it does, your swing is still not good enough no matter how far and how strong you can hit the ball if you cannot control its direction. Also, if your ball is short, you have a problem with your swing.
We will be giving you quick tips on how to improve your golf swing. Adding that distance to your shots means less par and a better game, isn’t this what every golfer aims at? Also, it is not about muscle power to get the ball down the fairway, the game is more of finesse. Further, in order to master the game of golf, you must learn how to swing well and consistently.
Learn to do just that by focusing on key areas of golfing technique which includes proper grip and posture, the backswing, the downswing, tempo and the golf club handle.
First is improving your set-up or posture especially when you experience the following: a slice and hook, hitting behind the ball and hitting top of ball. Your set-up should be that you keep a straight back and spine, as you keep your chest out and bend over the hips until club touches the ground. Remember that use only your hips to get down and this is your set-up.
Maintain a good sense of balance and an even rhythm when swinging your golf club. Rushing your swing will cause you to lose your balance and result in unpredictable contact with the ball and reduced ball flight. Complete your follow through and transfer of weight by having your right foot up and able to tap the ground.
Remember to practice, especially your set-up and swing. You can do this in driving ranges. When you finish your swing focus your body in facing your target when you make your follow through. Keep a slower speed during your back swing rather than your forward swing, practice this always.
Put into practice these golf tips to a lower handicap! You can even access free online golf swing tutorials or buying videos and DVDs on improving your golf swing.

Ball Positioning as an Effective Bunker Strategy
More advanced golf players have the advantage of doing some
creative ball positioning when setting up for a bunker shot.
For the rest of us, it’s best to stick with the basics and play the ball in
the middle of the stance until the shot can be mastered. (Once you
can step into a bunker with the confidence that you can make the ball
onto the green, you are then ready for more advanced techniques.)
However, some bunker shots may not allow you to take an even
stance with the ball positioned in the middle, like these two
following scenarios:
A.Downhill Bunker Shots
If you are facing a downhill bunker shot, move the ball slightly
behind the center of your stance to be sure that the ball flies up. (The
reason is that gravity will naturally pull it down.)
Uphill Bunker Shots
When dealing with an uphill bunker shot, move the ball slightly
forward of the center of your stance to ensure that you splash the
sand in the front of the ball.
Keeping An Eye On The Clubface.
Most bunker shots require the player to hit the ball into the air with
just enough distance to clear the lip in order to reach the green. Less
distance & more height is the key.
The club you choose should be the shortest and most lofted club that
you have in your golf bag. The sand wedge is almost always the best
choice.
In order to play your bunker shots effectively, you have to watch the
clubface.
Remember that you are using a high lofted club. It needs to remain
lofted as it scrapes it’s way through the sand and scoops the ball
upward.
When you grip the club and take your swing, you don’t want to do
anything that ruins the technique and de-lofts the ball. This includes
attempting to help the ball become overly airborne, breaking your
wrists, or changing up the angle…..
