Fix A Golf Slice – Don’t Waste Your Time And Money

1:36 pm September 28, 2009
by Dave Smith

Fix a golf slice is a thought that many amateur golfers have in their minds. Studies reveal over 80% of all amateur golfers slice the ball. There have been more training aids, drills and tips to fix the golf slice that I can’t even begin to count.

Have you ever taken any lessons to fix your golf slice? Or have you got any of those miracle training aids several times just to end up with the same unsolved problem? Isn’t that frustrating? Have you noticed what’s the actual problem?

A golf slice is caused by the club-face coming across the ball from outside the target line, creating side-spin on the ball. Upon first thought, this may seem like a mechanical issue. And it is…but if you dig a little deeper, you’ll find it’s a ‘physical’ issue.

You need to know that it is your body what rules your capability to swing the club with effectiveness. If you have any kind of physical impediment, your swing will come with mechanical problems and the faults will appear.

In the golf swing there are many compensations for lack of proper mechanics. If you can’t make a 90 degree shoulder turn on the back-swing, you’ll do whatever it takes to feel like you are making a full turn.

A good example of this would be to rotate your hips beyond the desired 45 degrees to enable your body to make a full back-swing. What this does is rob you of power. You have no torque built up in your core to unleash into the ball at impact.

The same thing with a golf slice.

A golf slice is nothing more than the result of your upper body going ahead of your lower body. That creates what they call “an over-the-top” motion. This results in the club-face cutting the ball making a side-spin. That is what we know as the banana ball.

Your first inclination would be to go get golf lessons to fix your slice. If that does not work, then you get a training aid. If that doesn’t work either, you might go and get an offset driver to help you correct your slice issue.

Is that your case?

The real solution! Forget about your lessons. Stop buying training aids. And also maintain your normal driver in your bag.

You must work your rotational ability. It is that simple. The moment you are able to separate your upper and lower body, you will see your golf slice improve greatly.

Does it make sense to you?

Along with fixing your golf slice, you’ll add up to 30 yards to your drives. You will get more roll when the ball lands from a draw ball flight. A golf slice is a weak shot that does not penetrate the air for maximum distance.

Get Low

2:57 pm May 29, 2009

Why do most golfers spend most of their time trying to hit shots that
go airborne at great distances? Perhaps it’s ego, or maybe it’s just
plain fun (it is).

Knocking a great shot far into the sky may have some appeal, but
when it comes to short game, you must use different strategies in
order to lower your score.

One strategy is to continually hit the ball lower. Not only is it
effective, but it keeps it safe. Low shots tend to have a better
outcome too.

Your goal is to lower your score. So, just think lowww…
Look at these examples:

A. When Your Ball Is Close To The Green

When your ball is close to the green, it is difficult to determine how
far it will travel when you send it into the air. Keeping an eye on the
ball’s destination is much easier when keeping the trajectory lower.

Keep the ball low enough so that it rolls most of the distance as close
to the hole as possible. When your ball is sitting just 30 to 40 yards
away from the hole, you will only invite problems if you decide to
pop it up too far up into the air.

B. During Windy Weather Conditions

When you are playing during high winds, your game can turn into a
disaster in just one stroke. By hitting the ball high in the air, you
give away your control & are more susceptible to wind’s mercy.
Your ball can end up flying to the left, the right, or even into a
greater distance than was intended. By keeping it low but firm, the
wind has much less of a chance to interfere with the ball’s travel
path…

C. Blocked Areas

Often, you will make a shot & the ball will end up underneath a tree
or some other immovable obstacle that prevents you from getting it
airborne. This is a perfect opportunity to practice your low shots in
order to remove yourself from a sticky situation.
