One of the most dreaded outcomes from a golf swing is a golf slice, which can happen especially to beginners that lack consistency in their golf swing, not to mention that sometimes it will also struck professional golfers!
So if this can even happen to a professional, what can we do to cure it? The answer can be simple once you understand about how golf slice really works.
Golf slice is usually used when you are trying to avoid a tree or obstacle in the course and it will fly from the left to the right, however a bad golf slice is one that is uncontrollable and often exaggerated, on the other hand if your ball is flying from the right to left then you are doing a golf hook. These slices and hooks does not happen unintentionally or by chance, it is a direct result of where your club is facing when the swing lands.
Here are a few ways you can do to stop your golf slice:
Obviously, the easiest way is to make sure when you land your swing, your club face angle is hitting the ball straight on. Easy as it sound, this is a difficult skill to master, hence the amount of golf swing tips out there. By just understanding this, you can now make a conscious effort to make sure that your club face lands the exact way you wanted it to be.
A golf slice can also be a result of your golf grip, because a golf grip is more than just keeping your golf club in hand after you’ve done swinging, you should really pay attention to your grip. If you are gripping too tightly, you will end up hitting a golf hook because the club will be facing inwards when you hit, as such too loose you will end up with a slice, and sometimes the club might even fly out of your hand!
If you are guilty of a golf swing slice, make sure you address it immediately before it becomes a habit and sucks the fun out of golf for you. What you need is to understand how golf swing works, taking care of your grip, stance, body alignment, distance between the golf ball, and if your golf swing is originated from your shoulders are all important in keeping the consistency and the ball straight during the fairway.
It can sometimes feel awkward that you have to correct so many things in a golf swing; however do bear in mind that with more practice and muscle memories, you can land the perfect swing. Thus make sure you keep all of these in mind when you are hitting your driving range the next time!

This week’s lesson is entitled, “How to Cure a Golf Hook”, and if you’ve been battling a hook for a while you understand how frustrating they can be. Everyone else is, more than likely, slicing the ball, and you are playing from the opposite side of the fairway.
However,… the golf hook is usually really easy to fix. Use these simple golf tips, and more than likely that nasty golf hook will be corrected in no time. Your focus when correcting a golf hook is to learn how to swing from the outside to inside.
1. Grip the Club More Loosely – Golfers who have a bad hook commonly play with a grip that is too strong. By simply rotating your hands around the grip toward the target, you can make it much harder for the clubface to be “closed” through the impact zone. Remember to test each grip, to see what gives you the best results. Once you are playing with a loose grip move on to the next golf tip.
2. Set the ball forward in your stance – Players who have a golf slice tend to position the ball forward in their stance. Since we hook the ball, this wouldn’t be a bad thing for us to do. So, let’s copy them. (It doesn’t matter if you have a slice or a hook, if you want to correct it, the first thing you should do is learn how to do the opposite.) Setting the ball forward in your golf stance will get you well on you way to curing that nasty hook.
3. Aim to the left (to the right if left handed) of the target – Start out with an open stance to the target. This will put that clockwise rotation on the ball that you are looking for. Just open your stance a little bit, and swing along the line of your shoulders.
4. Make sure that you are finishing with your weight on your forward foot – This is the single best solution for the hook. If you hook the ball, chances are that you finish with some of your weight still on your back foot. This causes you to come around the ball with a closed clubface. This is the number one cause of the deadly snap-hook. Finish with all of your weight forward, and you’ll never experience it.

According to the rules of golf, you typically get free relief (no
penalty) when your ball lies on an artificially surfaced pathway,
specifically a cart path.
However, there are times when the relief you get is worthless
because it puts your ball in an undesired location, like a tangled
grassy area.
Sometimes your only option is to make the shot from the actual cart
path, which is the lesser of evils (in terms of choices).
When shooting from the cart path, there are two things you should
definitely NOT do:
1. Never use your putter. Although the cart path is firm, using a
putter to hit the ball can be disastrous. For example, the road on the
famous St. Andrews course is made from tiny little pebbles. They
can causes balls to roll in various directions, wobbling the entire
way.
2. Never send the ball airborne. Don’t use a high lofted club from a
firm rocky road. It’s best to use a wedge in these types of situations.
