Ones first purchase of a complete set of golf clubs can be daunting. Think about renting as an alternative, at least for a few times, since it is such an expensive investment. Buying a cheap used set is another alternative.

Clone golf clubs give the best value for the money as a name brand and should be a prime consideration. Clones use the exact same materials and specs that top brands have but without the expensive label.

New purchases are always exciting, and it’s smart to have some experience under your belt before you jump into the water. Consider your individual body type and your level of play when choosing a club.

Everyone has a different profile and individual characteristics that need to be fitted to a golf club. Proper fitting influences performance dramatically. The more experience on has one the greens, the better they are able to judge what equipment specs would help their game best.

Woods: A 1-wood is called the driver but there are also “drivers” that are dedicated drivers, and not a 1-wood. Fairway woods are shorter in length, the driver being the longest club in the bag. When it comes down to it, personal preference and how it feels to hit the ball with the driver or fairway wood is what matters.

Irons: There are 3 classifications of irons: short, mid and long irons. The high lofts are the short irons and are the 8 and 9 iron. Long irons are the 1, 2, 3 and 4 irons. The mid irons are the 5, 6, and 7 irons.

Putters: Putters come in club head styles of blade, heel-toe and mallet. Lengths come in belly putters, standard and broomstick (long) putters. Putters are the most used club in the game and particular attention should be paid to fit and preference of putter.

Utility clubs: The best features of iron and wood are incorporated into utility clubs and many beginners opt for them. It eliminates the need to carry around a lot of clubs in their bag.

Beginning players should look for a cheap set of used clubs to use until they get the hang of the game and discover their own individual preferences. With experience backing them up, one can better choose the clone golf club or brand name that fine tunes their game.
